Greece: SPI Solar completes two solar energy projects

SPI Solar, which is a vertically integrated photovoltaic solar developer offering its own brand of high-quality, low-cost distributed generation and utility-scale solar energy facility development services, has announced that the construction of two major solar energy facility projects in Greece has been completed.

The first project is a 2 megawatt development in Evros and the second one, a 4.4 MW solar energy facility (SEF) which is situated in Orestiada. Both systems were completed and interconnected by July 26.Another SEF is under construction in Rhodopi and it is planned to be ready by September.

The two facilities will both provide power to Greek Public Power Corporation through 20- year Power Purchase Agreements. These are the first two large- scale SEFs that SPI Solar has completed in Greece, and the firm will continue to follow additional projects across the country as Greece continues to diversify its energy sources.

SPI Solar and Taneo Fund has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) regarding the development of a 23 MW utility scale solar energy facility across the country, but the goal for the two companies is to potentially develop a total of 100 MW.
