Gazprom requires 7 billion dollars for imports of gas to Ukraine

National Naftogaz of Ukraine received from Gazprom a 7 billion dollars bill. In January 2009, the two companies have signed an agreement according to which Ukraine had to buy from Moscow at least 41 billion cubic meter of gas a year, and if consumes less, it is obliged to pay a penalty. In fact the country imported last year less gas than stipulated in the contract, about 33 billion cubic meters.

US: renewable energy accounts half of all new electricity in 2012

According to the latest report from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Office of Energy Projects, half of all new energy generation capacity installed in the US last year was from renewable sources. Renewable energy accounted about 49.10% of all new domestic electrical generating installed in 2012, totaling almost 12,956 MW, with 25% of that new capacity that was installed in December.

Solar PV provides 5.6% of Italian electricity demand in 2012

According to some figures released by the Italian transmission grid operator Terna SpA, electricity from solar photovoltaic generation increased by roughly 72% in comparison to 2011 levels reaching 18.3 TWh.
