Ukraine to build its first LNG terminal

Ukraine started the construction of its first LNG terminal near the Black Sea port, in Odessa region. According to the Ukrainian government officials, the LNG terminal may then cover from 30 to 50 % of Ukraine's domestic demand for gas.

Russia’s Nord Stream is likely to reach UK

According to an English newspaper BP was in "secret talks" with Gazprom to develop the twin Nord Stream pipeline to Britain. The BP director for Russia David Peattie has announced that talks were in the initial phase, while the British Prime Minister David Cameron stated that it will support the project.

CCS to compete with other forms of renewable energy by 2020

According to a Government-commissioned report, fossil fuel power generation with carbon capture and storage (CCS) is likely to compete cost-effectively with other forms of renewable energy, being able to generate electricity at around £100 per megawatt hour (MWh) by the early 2020s.

China to reduce carbon emissions by 730 million tons

According to the new report recently released by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), “ China’s Policies and Actions for Addressing Climate Change, 2012”, China is at work to reduce its CO2 emissions through industrial restructuring and also making efforts to increase the country’s forest with more than 2.51 billion trees that were planted last year.
