Munich, Germany aims for CO2-neutral heating by 2040, primarily with geothermal
Munich city utility Stadtwerke München (SWM) has laid out a plan for the heating transition in Munich, Germany that aims to establish CO2-neutral heating by 2040 at the latest, ahead of the 2045 target set by the federal government. With much of this capacity to come from geothermal, SWM is undertaking the expansion of heating networks, new geothermal projects, and additional drilling.

Major nuclear projects will have to wait longer for delayed EIB financing
The European Investment Bank (EIB) dealt a major blow to the nuclear industry at last week’s International Nuclear Energy Summit in Brussels, when it dithered over the industry’s request for more funding for nuclear projects, but confirmed that investment in renewable energy will remain a priority until 2030.

Global natural gas investments to reach almost $9 trillion by 2050
The Gas Exporting Countries Forum's (2050) forecast report projects that global natural gas investments will total almost $9 trillion by 2050, with $8.2 trillion directed toward the upstream sector and $0.74 trillion for the midstream sector.
