RWE, one of the big six energy companies in the UK, has announced the cancellation of one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms due to political rows and policy uncertainty. The wind farm in the Bristol Channel Zone would have provided clean energy for almost 1 million hoseholds and provided thousands of jobs in the construction phase.

Poland to adopt a new shale gas regulation by the end of the year

UK: The Big Six energy firms increased their profits five fold
According to informations from Ofgem, UK’s energy regulator, the Big Six energy suppliers saw their profit margins in the supply of gas and electricity increase to 4.3% in 2012, in comparison to 2.8% a year before. The big six operators made £53 profit per household customer last year, compared to £30 in 2011.

Spain’s Repsol stroke a compensation deal with Argentina’s YPF
Spanish oil major Repsol and Argentina’s main energy company YPF inked a preliminary deal on Monday, under which Repsol will receive a 51 percent stake in the South American’s nation’s energy company.
