Daily (26.06.2020): Oil prices rebounded on Thursday after a 5% loss, as U.S. economic data lent support

Crude oil futures edged higher in a volatile session on Thursday, rebounding after a 5% loss in the previous session, with the market oscillating between rather encouraging U.S. economic data and fears on the health front. Hence, Brent crude by rose 74 cents, or 1.8%, to settle at $41.05 a barrel. At the same time, U.S. WTI crude settled 71 cents, or 1.9%, higher at $38.72 per barrel.

Total and Sonatrach extend their partnership in LNG

Total and Sonatrach have signed an agreement to renew their partnership in the field of LNG. This agreement notably allows to extend the existing supply contracts for three additional years in order to provide 2 million tpy of Algerian LNG to the French market, primarily through an LNG terminal at Fos Cavaou. The agreement also includes the sub-charter of an LNG tanker of Total by Sonatrach.

EconMin Popescu: We took measures to complete gas markets liberalization; we expect 10-15 pct drop in prices

Minister of Economy Virgil Popescu on Thursday told the Government meeting that measures were taken to allow the liberalization of the natural gas market starting with July 1, while mentioning that a drop in the prices by 10-15 per cent is to be expected as a result.
