Biggest solar park in UK to be built in North Wales

The Compton Group, a green energy developer is aiming to build the UK’s largest solar park in North Wales. The project is likely to see something like 180,000 panels erected over 220 acres on land near Deeside Industrial Park and would create enough green electricity from the sun to power about 11,000 households. The development could create more than 100 jobs during the construction phase and a small number of positions once ready.

Last year the government has announced the new goal regarding solar power, where nearly 4 million British homes across the UK should be powered by the sun within 2020. Meanwhile, George Eustice, the new environment minister, suggested subsidies for wind and solar power are "still too high”. Eustice said his declarations referred to the government's wish to move eventually to an auction system for renewable subsidies.
