German wind, solar tenders award 384 MW in July

Projects with a combined capacity of 384 MW secured surcharges in Germany’s tenders for wind and solar power this month, the Federal Network Agency, also known as the Bundesnetzagetur (BNetzA) has announced.

As in previous months, the onshore wind tender was undersubscribed, while the interest in solar surpassed, by far, the targeted capacity.

Most of the winning wind projects are planned for Schleswig-Holstein (48.6 MW), Lower Saxony (48.35 MW) and Brandenburg (41.3 MW).

Because of the coronavirus crisis and its impact on supply chains and project implementation, BNetzA will wait for the situation to normalise before publishing officially the award decision. This way it will not trigger certain project deadlines. The bidders will be informed of the results individually.

BNetzA will be holding the next tenders for onshore wind and solar plants on September 1, 2020.

Daily (16.09.2020): Oil prices ended higher on Tuesday as Hurricane Sally disrupted Gulf of Mexico energy production

Crude oil futures rebounded on Tuesday, buoyed by rising Chinese industrial production and Hurricane Sally which curbed the supply in the Gulf of Mexico. Hence, Brent crude for November delivery soared by 92 cents, or 2.3%, to settle at $40.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, U.S. WTI crude for October delivery climbed by $1.02, or 2.7%, to settle at $38.28 a barrel. Both contracts fell on Monday.
