New self-driving electric vehicle launched by Toyota

Toyota inaugurated their new mobility ecosystem and concept vehicle at the Consumer Electronics Show, the world’s largest technology fair which started on Tuesday in Las Vegas.

The E-Palette, the new concept vehicle, will be a completely independent, battery-electric vehicle with an open control interface to offer partner companies the possibility to incorporate their own automated driving system.

Akio Toyoda, Toyota Motor Corporation's president declared: "The automobile industry is clearly amidst its most dramatic period of change as technologies like electrification, connected and automated driving are making significant progress. This announcement marks a major step forward in our evolution towards sustainable mobility, demonstrating our continued expansion beyond traditional cars and trucks to the creation of new values including services for customers."

The enterprise also announced about a new alliance with Amazon, DiDi, Mazda, Pizza Hut and Uber as part of the launch of E-Palette vehicles. The new alliance will form a broad-based ecosystem of hardware and software support that will encourage a large range of companies to use advanced mobility technology for quality serve customers. 

The associates in the joint deal will cooperate on vehicle planning, application concepts and vehicle control activities, according to company statement.

Increasing trade tensions between US and China led to a decline in oil prices on Tuesday. Brent crude edged 0.2% lower at $72.46 a barrel, due to a pessimistic economic outlook and predictions of reduced demand. Meanwhile, WTI crude ended 0.2% down at $67.04, following the rise in crude inventories.
