Total Quadran, the French renewable power production unit of Total SA, has taken over Global Wind Power (GWP) France, which holds an onshore wind project portfolio amounting to 1,000 MW.

The transaction will give Total Quadran ownership over 250 MW of assets that are scheduled to come on stream by 2025. The company will also benefit from GWP’s current teams, which will help step up wind power development in France.

Total Quadran presently operates more than 300 renewable energy plants at home with a combined capacity exceeding 900 MW. According to Philippe Sauquet, president of Gas, Renewables and Power at Total, that portfolio includes over 500 MW of onshore wind assets.

Overall, Total is pursuing a goal of having 25 GW of installed renewable power generation capacity by 2025. At present, the group has close to 7 GW of gross low-carbon power generation capacity, including more than 3 GW of renewables.
