Vestas will build its first project consisting of 11 units of the V100 wind turbine in Tuscany, for the Santa Luce Wind Power Plant. The project is the first on Italian soil to use the V100 and includes delivery, transportation, installation and commissioning of turbines.

The delivery of the first turbines is likely to initiate during the third quarter of 2012 and the project is expected to be commercially operational before the end of the year. The Santa Luce project is expected to produce about 53 GWh per year and will provide electricity to more than 46,500 Italian families by reducing about 21,000 tons of CO2 emissions. By the end of December 2011, Vestas has delivered 2,664 MW in Italy, being the most qualified partner in wind energy industry of Italy. Vestas currently has about 46,000 wind turbines which reduce the carbon emissions of about 50 million tons per year. At the moment it has wind turbines installed in almost 70 countries and offers jobs to more than 20000 persons.
