Wind, solar secure 1.4GW in latest French tenders

The French Ministry for the Ecological and Inclusive Transition has procured approximately 750MW of wind and 630MW of ground-mounted photovoltaic capacity in its latest round of tenders.

Winning projects in the country’s fifth round of ‘national call for tenders for onshore wind’ include the 25.2MW Mont de Bezard 2 in the department of Marne and the 17.3MW Extension Seuil de Bapaume in Pas-de-Calais, both being developed by Boralex.


Other project winners include EPDR's 21MW Ty Nevez Mouric in Cotes-d'Armor, the 30.8MW Luce 1, being developed by Enertrag in Somme, and Engie's 17.6MW Chemin des Haguenets Sud in Oise.


Boralex’s PV projects, the 15.4MW Peyrolles en Provence in the department of Bouches-du-Rhone and the 12.5MW La Cle des Champs in Haute-Loire, were also among selected sites in the ministry’s ‘seventh round of call for tenders for ground-mounted solar’.


Other winners in this round include Engie, which secured over 90MW of capacity, the largest of which is the 27.3MW Parc D’Artillerie in Bouches-du-Rhone.


The projects awarded will receive a feed-in premium agreement over a period of 20 years from the date of commissioning.

Crude oil prices lost momentum on Friday, on renewed fears over global fuel demand as U.S reported a surge in coronavirus cases. Nevertheless, signs of improving global economy and OPEC+ record high supply cuts limited the loss. As a result, Brent crude decreased by 0.8% to $42.80 a barrel. Similarly, WTI futures traded 1% lower at $40.24 a barrel.


Swinoujscie terminal receives 100th LNG shipment

The Swinoujscie gas terminal in north-western Poland received its 100th liquefied natural gas cargo on Friday. The 90,000 tonnes LNG shipment came from Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited (Qatargas) aboard the Al-Safliya LNG tanker.


Russia's Novak sees global oil output cuts easing from August
