Nordex wins debut Orsted deal at Irish site

Nordex has received its first order from Orsted to supply and install turbines for a 43MW wind project in Ireland.
The deal, reported first in the 29 August is for nine N133/4800 machines for the Farranrory wind farm, in County Tipperary, plus a 20-year service agreement.
Nordex is installing the turbines for Farranrory on tubular steel towers and the delivery and installation programme will commence in the summer of 2025.
Completion and commissioning will occur in 2026.
The turbines will feature a 156.5-metre tip height ceiling, which Orsted secured permission for earlier this year after an original permit granted in 2021 put the top end at 150 metres.
The developer holds a RESS 3 contract for the wind farm from last year’s allocation. Power prices average at just over €100 per megawatt-hour under the deals.
Farranrory will bring Orsted’s total installed capacity in Ireland and Northern Ireland to over 500MW, the majority of which was built by Bord Gais before Canadian investor Brookfield acquired the portfolio in 2014.
Orsted bought out the latter’s UK and Irish onshore wind operations in 2021.
