The fuel plant in Kazakhstan and China has achieved its designed production capacity.

The Ulba-FA LLP fuel assembly plant, which manufactures nuclear fuel for Chinese nuclear power facilities, has achieved its target production capacity of 200 tonnes of low-enriched uranium in the form of fuel assemblies.
The 200 tU Ulba-FA fuel assembly facility, utilizing fuel assembly manufacturing technology and equipment from Framatome, as well as manufacturing resources from China, France, and the USA, began its operations in November 2021 and provided its initial batch of fresh fuel to China General Nuclear subsidiary CGNPC-URC in 2022.
Ulba-FA stands as the sole fuel production facility for nuclear power plants in Central Asia. This project is implemented by Kazatomprom, via its subsidiary Ulba Metallurgical Plant JSC, in collaboration with the China General Nuclear Power Corporation.
"Since its commissioning, the plant has consistently increased its production levels, adhering to the timeline for achieving its design capacity within a three-year period," stated Kazatomprom.
