In 2024, the installed capacity of solar and wind energy in China experiences significant growth.

According to the National Energy Administration, China's solar and wind power capacities increased by 45.2% and 18%, respectively, in 2024, as the country aims to enhance its renewable energy production and improve its power infrastructure.
In August of last year, China's state planner introduced a three-year initiative to modernize the power system, which includes boosting renewable energy use and alleviating the pressure of growing power demand on the national grid.
The installed capacity of solar power reached 890 million kilowatts, while wind power reached 520 million kilowatts, as reported by the administration.
The total installed power generation capacity in 2024 saw a 14.6% year-on-year increase, amounting to 3.35 billion kilowatts.
Greenpeace analysts indicated that by 2025, renewable energy could fulfill all new power demand growth in China. This would set the stage for the country's power sector to reach peak emissions by 2025, according to Gao Yuhe, project leader for Greenpeace East Asia in Beijing.
According to meteorological data, last year marked the warmest year on record for China since the beginning of record-keeping 60 years ago.
