Collaboration to strengthen nuclear cooperation between the UK and Canada

The Advanced Nuclear Research Centre at the University of Strathclyde has established a cooperation agreement with the Candu Owners Group and the University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering.
The Advanced Nuclear Research Centre (ANRC) engages in research and application for industry-led projects, serving as a central hub for all nuclear activities at the University of Strathclyde. The Candu Owners Group (COG) is a non-profit corporation based in Toronto focused on nuclear energy, comprising members who are nuclear operators committed to achieving operational excellence through collaboration. The University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering (UNENE) is a consortium of Canadian universities, industry, government, and international institutions dedicated to excellence in nuclear science, technology, and engineering.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which has a renewable five-year term, the three organizations will collaborate on initiatives related to nuclear engineering, science, and technology across research and development, education and training, knowledge management, and support for nuclear operations.
"International collaboration is essential for developing the capability and capacity needed to achieve the ambitious growth in nuclear energy required for our energy security and net-zero goals," stated ANRC Executive Director Daryl Landeg. "Canada and the UK are uniquely positioned to lead globally in the safe and secure use of nuclear energy. This agreement will help us forge lasting, productive partnerships that align with our mutual objectives to advance nuclear energy."
COG President and CEO Rachna Clavero remarked: "We are continuously looking for new opportunities to create value for our members, and this agreement enhances the progress of industry-led projects while broadening our international network of expertise."
UNENE President Jerry Hopwood commented, "UNENE recognizes significant potential for each partner in this agreement, given our strong common interests and goals, along with a history of successful collaboration. Working together will provide immense opportunities for synergy and innovation, uniting UNENE universities with industrial and academic partners."
