Recurrent Energy, a division of Canadian Solar Inc., has finalized an agreement to provide Qualcomm Inc., a US semiconductor manufacturer, with 50,000 MWh of solar energy each year from a new facility in Spain.
This power purchase agreement (PPA) is associated with a solar project that Recurrent Energy will develop, own, and operate in Spain. The amount of electricity contracted is sufficient to meet the annual energy requirements of 15,000 local households.
The deal was made possible through the assistance of Trio, a sustainability and energy advisory firm previously known as Altenex Energy, according to a press release.
Recurrent Energy has successfully developed, constructed, and connected to the grid 11 GWp of solar power plants and over 3 GWh of energy storage facilities across six continents. As of the end of 2024, its global portfolio includes more than 28 GWp of solar power and 67 GWh of energy storage capacity.
