Skoda hints at a flagship electric SUV with seven seats.

Skoda has teased a new midsize battery-electric SUV that will compete with the Peugeot e-5008, aimed at families in need of a seven-seater EV.

This midsize model will be the production version of the Vision 7S concept revealed by the brand in 2022, with sales expected to start in 2026.

The Vision 7S concept was slightly over 5000 mm long and featured an 89-kilowatt-hour battery, providing a range of 600 km (370 miles). It is built on the MEB platform from Skoda's parent company, Volkswagen Group, which also supports other BEVs like the VW ID4 and Audi Q4 E-Tron.

Skoda introduced the seven-seat EV during their earnings call on March 13, 2024, but did not reveal additional information.

Seven-seat electric vehicles are still uncommon, with potential competitors in the mainstream segment including the larger Kia EV9.

This new vehicle will be positioned above the Elroq and Enyaq SUVs, offering Skoda customers an electric option to replace the Kodiaq combustion engine midsize SUV.

Innovative features in the Vision 7S concept included a 14.6-inch rotating dashboard display and a rear-facing baby seat integrated into the center console.

The design also included physical dials that have debuted in Skoda's Kodiaq and Superb midsize cars.

The Vision 7S was the first to showcase Skoda's new Modern Solid design language, which transitioned into a production model last year with the Elroq compact SUV.

Skoda's first BEV, the Enyaq, ranked as the fourth best-selling electric vehicle in Europe last year, with 67,344 units sold, nearly matching the numbers for 2023, according to market research from Dataforce.

Skoda announced it is "doubling its ambitions" for BEV sales in Europe in 2025 and noted having 35,000 orders for the new Elroq.

In 2026, Skoda will begin selling the Epiq, a small electric vehicle, which will be built on the same front-wheel-drive version of the VW Group's MEB platform that will support the upcoming VW ID2 hatchback and ID2 All small SUV.

Skoda reported a 6.9 percent increase in vehicle sales, reaching 926,600 in 2024, as stated on March 13. Its operating margin rose to 8.3 percent from 6.7 percent in 2023, with a profit margin of 8.9 percent for 2024, exceeding VW brand's 2.9 percent and Audi's 6.0 percent.
