Ørsted selects an Irish dairy farm to implement a solar project.

Ørsted A/S has signed a lease agreement with the Irish family-owned dairy farm Greenhills to explore potential renewable energy production on its property, as part of Ørsted's initiative for a solar development with a capacity of 250 MW for export.
TJ Hunter, Ørsted’s vice president for onshore operations in Ireland and the UK, stated, "We can now begin to outline a project to initiate the planning process and maintain close engagement with the local community and stakeholders to determine the best approach for the area," in relation to the agreement.
Once completed, the proposed solar project is anticipated to produce enough clean electricity to supply power to at least 52,000 homes.
Located in east Cork, the Greenhills farm is one of Ireland's largest dairy farms, housing a herd of 1,100 cows. The farm has been utilized for various agricultural purposes, including sugar beet cultivation.
Tom, Elizabeth, and Simon Browne, the family operating Greenhills, expressed their enthusiasm, stating, "We are now excited to collaborate with the Irish Ørsted team to reimagine the future of our farm and take a leading role in the journey towards sustainability."
