Eolus and Hydro Rein have finished constructing a 260-MW wind farm in Sweden.

Eolus Vind AB, a Swedish renewable energy developer, and Hydro Rein have completed the construction of the 260 MW Stor-Skalsjon wind farm located in the Sundsvall and Timra municipalities in northern Sweden, as announced by the companies on Friday.

The facility has been transferred to its owners, MEAG, which manages assets for the Munich Re Group and holds a 75% stake, along with Hydro Rein, which owns 25%.

Eolus and Hydro Rein developed the wind farm through a construction management agreement, having acquired the project from Enercon in 2021. They later sold a 75% stake to MEAG, with Eolus selling its full 51% interest and Hydro Rein a 24% share. Eolus will provide asset management services for a period of 15 years.

The wind farm, featuring 42 Siemens Gamesa turbines, is anticipated to generate 800 GWh annually. Electricity production commenced in September 2023 and has been increasing since then.

"We are pleased to announce the successful handover of the Stor-Skalsjon wind farm, which is one of our prominent wind power projects in Sweden. This strategic investment enhances the stability and resilience of our 1.8 GWp renewable energy portfolio, an essential component of our Infrastructure Equity portfolio," stated Philipp Deisler, Head of Infrastructure Equity Asset Management at MEAG.

The Stor-Skalsjon wind farm will provide electricity to Telenor Infra AS and Hydro Extrusion Sweden through power purchase agreements (PPAs).
