Greencoat Renewables signs a power purchase agreement for wind energy in Ireland.

Greencoat Renewables and Keppel DC REIT have entered into a wind power purchase agreement (PPA) for two data centers in Dublin, Ireland. Under this agreement, Keppel DC REIT will obtain all the electricity produced by Greencoat Renewables’ Ballincollig wind farm in County Kerry, which generates 31.5GWh of renewable energy annually.

This is the second PPA between the two parties. The current agreement, along with all prior contracts between Keppel DC REIT and its partners, guarantees that all power for Keppel DC Dublin 1 and Dublin 2 will be sourced from renewable energy for the next ten years.

This PPA supports Keppel DC REIT’s goal of having at least 50% of its colocation assets powered by renewable energy by 2030 and promotes renewable energy use across its portfolio. The PPA for the Ballincollig wind farm is the sixth within Greencoat Renewables’ portfolio, demonstrating the company's ability to re-contract assets as they move away from tariff regimes.

Together, the six PPAs provide 540GWh of renewable energy annually, accounting for 20% of Greencoat Renewables’ expected volume over the next five years.

These agreements average eight years in duration and cover various regions and technologies. Gary Watson, Country Manager for Keppel DC REIT (Ireland), expressed satisfaction in achieving their 2030 target of 100% Irish renewable energy for operations five years early, emphasizing that this commitment will help clients meet their sustainability goals.

Paul O’Donnell, Partner at Schroders Greencoat, noted the significant opportunity to supply renewable electricity to the expanding Irish data center market, stating that the second PPA with Keppel DC REIT reinforces their role as a reliable renewable energy provider.
