Neoen and Prokon have energized a 55.8-MW wind farm in Finland to provide power to Equnix.

French renewable energy producer Neoen SA announced on Monday that it has successfully launched its 55.8-MW Lumivaara wind farm in Finland, which it co-owns with the local branch of German renewables cooperative Prokon.
Situated in the Hyrynsalmi municipality in the Kainuu region, the wind farm features nine V162-6.2 MW turbines from Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems. Approximately 80% of the facility's total output will be sold under a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with data center company Equinix Inc, intended to supply five of its sites in Scandinavia. As part of the agreement reached in 2022, Equinix will also acquire the associated guarantees of origin from the energy production.
Neoen and Prokon began construction of the Lumivaara wind farm two years ago as part of a larger initiative that includes the 105.4-MW Storbotet wind park in Finland’s Ostrobothnia region. Neoen holds 80% of both projects, while Prokon’s local unit owns the remaining 20%.
