Photon Energy will construct a 34 MW photovoltaic plant for Hyperion in Romania.

Photon Energy, a solar energy and clean water solutions company based in the Netherlands, announced on Friday that it has signed a contract to construct a 34 MW photovoltaic (PV) plant in Romania for Portuguese project developer Hyperion Renewables. Photon Energy will handle the design, technology procurement, and construction of the solar plant in Saliste, Sibiu county. Financial details were not revealed. This project was initiated by Hyperion Renewables, and the two companies are collaborating to increase the capacity to 38 MW. Construction is slated to start in the third quarter of this year, with commercial operations expected by the third quarter of 2026. Photon Energy will also provide operation and maintenance services for the first three years post-commissioning, and the project is anticipated to generate approximately 35 to 50 local jobs throughout its duration.

Hyperion Renewables' CEO Aytea Amandi remarked that Romania is a key market for the company, and the Saliste Project is a crucial step as it is their first project in Romania to begin construction, showcasing their ability to advance from planning to implementation. The company is eager to move forward with this project while continuing to develop its pipeline to support Romania's energy transition. Hyperion Renewables, based in Lisbon, has developed 1 GW of solar PV projects, with over 400 MW already connected to the grid. They entered the Romanian market in 2021 and now have a 5 GW pipeline focused on solar, wind, energy storage, and green hydrogen projects in both Iberia and Romania.

Photon Energy N.V., the parent company of Photon Energy Group, is listed on stock exchanges in Warsaw, Prague, and Frankfurt. Headquartered in Amsterdam, the company has offices across Europe and Australia, and is currently working on renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 1 GWp in Australia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and South Africa.
