Ørsted begins construction on an expansion of a 62-MW wind farm in Brandenburg.

Ørsted A/S has begun the construction phase for its 61.6-MW Bahren West II wind farm in Brandenburg, Germany, which expands an existing facility that started operations two months ago.
The Danish energy company announced on Tuesday that all preparatory work is finished and that earthworks and road construction are currently in progress. Following these activities, foundation construction is set to begin in the summer of 2026, followed by the installation of turbine towers. The new wind farm is expected to be operational in 2027. Situated in the Lausitz region of Brandenburg, primarily within the municipality of Neiße-Malxetal in the Spree-Neiße district, Bahren West II will feature 11 Vestas V150-6.0 MW turbines, each with a capacity of 5.6 MW, to supply power to approximately 45,000 local homes. Electricity will be transmitted through a new substation that Ørsted will construct.
Bahren West II builds on the existing 20-turbine Bahren West I wind farm, which has been supplying electricity to the grid since March. Once the second phase is operational, the 112-MW Bahren West complex will become one of the largest forest wind farms in Brandenburg, according to Ørsted.
