Enercity and ENERCON have signed a $914 million partnership agreement for onshore wind projects.

enercity Erneuerbare and ENERCON have formed a partnership worth up to €800 million ($914.5 million) in the German onshore wind sector.
This two-year contract, with a potential extension, involves the supply of 100 wind turbines of different types.
Managing directors of enercity Erneuerbare, Ralf Nietiet and Daniel Müller, commented that ambitious growth targets can be achieved more efficiently with strong partners. They emphasized that working with ENERCON ensures reliable access to high-quality technology within a set timeframe, and both parties will benefit from clear pricing, providing planning security.
The agreement stems from a tender by enercity Erneuerbare, promoting close collaboration between the two companies from Lower Saxony, and aims to enhance the regional economy in northern Germany.
Over 30 wind turbines from this contract are set for deployment in 2025.
As Germany plans to phase out coal-fired plants by 2038, it aims to replace the energy shortfall with renewables.
Benjamin Seifert, regional head for Central and Northern Europe at ENERCON, noted that the wind energy market in Germany is gaining momentum, with an increase in the transition from building permits to project implementation.
He highlighted that successful projects depend on early and agile cooperation among participants, noting that recent contractual discussions and initial project implementations have fostered constructive collaboration between the two firms.
In March 2025, ENERCON, along with Salzgitter’s subsidiary Ilsenburger Grobblech and TMGROUP’s SMB Schönebecker Maschinenbau, will collaborate to create a lower-emissions steel tower for wind turbines.
