AtkinsRéalis and EDF strengthen their partnership.

Canadian engineering firm AtkinsRéalis has announced a partnership agreement with France's EDF to enhance their global collaboration and pursue new opportunities in nuclear reactor development worldwide.
Potential areas for collaboration include engineering support, equipment provision, operational excellence sharing, installation and commissioning, and cooperation between both organizations' global technology centers. The agreement may also cover waste management and fuel production.
AtkinsRéalis stated that both companies will continue to compete in selecting reactor technology vendors as required by governments and developers in support of the global shift to low-carbon energy.
AtkinsRéalis President and CEO Ian Edwards remarked that this partnership with EDF represents a significant development for the nuclear sector and is strategically sound, emphasizing the global demand for cleaner, cost-effective, and reliable energy through nuclear power. He noted the increasing need for low-carbon energy and the market demand for 1,000 large and small reactors.
Joe St Julian, president of AtkinsRéalis nuclear division, mentioned the company’s ongoing strategic partnership with EDF in the UK and France for new nuclear projects. This collaboration will enhance their relationship and allow both organizations to expand international capacity and leverage their expertise and technical skills for future nuclear generation.
EDF's Senior Vice President for International Nuclear Development, Vakis Ramany, highlighted that this partnership with AtkinsRéalis reflects EDF’s commitment to advancing the nuclear industry alongside its Canadian partner. By combining their expertise and skills, the two companies aim to foster innovation and strengthen their nations' nuclear capabilities, enhancing energy sovereignty and security.
AtkinsRéalis, the parent company of Candu Energy Inc., is the exclusive commercial licensee of the Canadian Candu intellectual property portfolio and has been a leading force in Candu reactor life extension projects globally, including initiatives in Asia, North America, Europe, and South America.
