VSB will construct a hybrid energy park.

VSB Group will commence construction later this year on its inaugural hybrid wind and solar energy park in Germany, featuring 21.6MW of wind and 19MWp of solar capacity in Saxony-Anhalt.

Preparatory work for the solar component at the Löberitz project is set to start in August 2025 along the A9 motorway near Zschepkau, with full construction of the ground-mounted solar installation beginning in early 2026.

VSB is collaborating with municipal utility Stadtwerke Bitterfeld-Wolfen on the solar section, which has an option to acquire 5MWp of capacity for local clean energy supply.

In November 2025, VSB will initiate road works to upgrade the existing wind farm at the site, replacing five Vestas V52 turbines with three V172-7.2MW turbines, increasing capacity from 4.25MW to 21.6MW.

The hybrid energy park will supply power to the grid via VSB’s Salzfurtkapelle substation.

One of the new turbines will be co-located with the solar system to optimize land use and improve grid stability by leveraging the complementary generation profiles of wind and solar.

“The combination of wind and solar in a single project is a first for the region,” stated Thomas Winkler, managing director of VSB Deutschland.

“We’re glad to have partnered with the Löberitz Agricultural Cooperative, which is providing a significant portion of the land.”

Dr. Felix Grolman, CEO of VSB Group, remarked: “We look forward to bringing many more megawatts of wind, solar, and battery storage projects in partnership with our local collaborators.”
