Ferrovial secures a contract to construct 116 MWp of solar power plants in Spain.

Spanish infrastructure company Ferrovial SE will construct three solar photovoltaic plants in Murcia, Spain, providing a total installed capacity of 116 MWp for clients TotalEnergies SE and Soltec Power Holdings SA, as announced on Wednesday.
The largest project, Luminora Solar Tres, has just begun construction and will have a capacity of 95 MWp. It will use nearly 150,000 bifacial solar panels on solar trackers, along with a new substation and a 5-km overhead transmission line. Ferrovial will handle the design and construction of the facility and its connection infrastructure.
The other two plants, Fuente Alamo I and II, will collectively offer 21 MWp of capacity, utilizing over 33,000 bifacial panels and an 8-km medium-voltage line.
Once operational, the solar farms are expected to generate enough electricity to power around 30,500 households. Ferrovial will manage and maintain the plants during their first two years of operation, with construction anticipated to be completed in the second half of 2026.
The contract enhances Ferrovial's position in the renewable energy sector and strengthens its relationship with TotalEnergies as a key client.
These projects expand Ferrovial’s renewables portfolio, which includes recent initiatives like the Trevago I and II solar farms with a combined capacity of 62 MWp and the 17.8-MWp Calendula plant in Spain. In the U.S., the company has built the 72-MW Liberty plant with 60 MWh of battery storage and is currently working on a 257-MW solar farm in Leon County, Texas.
