Energiequelle has commissioned a repowered wind farm.

Energiequelle has launched a repowered wind farm in Raßlitz, Saxony, replacing two E-58 turbines with two new Enercon E-160 units, boosting the park's capacity from 2MW to 11MW. Each E-160 turbine has a hub height of 166.6 meters and a capacity of 5.56MW. The expected annual energy output from the new turbines is approximately 40.8 gigawatt hours, sufficient to provide green electricity to over 10,000 households. The commissioning of these turbines followed a lengthy planning process that started in 2013, during which the company faced various challenges, including changes to planning regulations and increasing opposition to wind energy in Saxony.
A significant challenge involved building a dedicated substation, as noted by Fabian Musall, head of project management at Energiequelle’s Dresden office. “After successfully participating in the Federal Network Agency's tender and receiving the maximum award, we learned that the originally planned substation was no longer available due to increased capacity,” Musall said. “We had to quickly mobilize all resources to construct our own substation.” The wind farm is now operational and has been sold to Encavis AG, a European renewable energy producer managing a range of onshore wind farms, solar installations, and battery storage systems.
