Merz states that Berlin is still contemplating a share in TenneT's German operations.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated on Monday that the government has not yet decided on acquiring a stake in the German branch of the state-owned Dutch power grid operator TenneT and is still negotiating with the Netherlands.
Last month, the Netherlands announced it would reveal in September whether it would sell a minority interest in TenneT Germany or opt for a partial IPO, potentially one of Europe’s largest deals in 2025.
Following a failed partial sale to the German state lender KfW last June, the Dutch government initiated a dual approach for TenneT Germany.
Merz mentioned in a joint news conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store that discussions within the federal government are ongoing and not yet final.
According to German newspaper Handelsblatt earlier this month, Norway's extensive sovereign wealth fund is contemplating a multi-billion dollar investment in TenneT Germany.
When asked if he would endorse this, Store noted that the fund has already made "significant" investments in German companies, adding, "There are many opportunities in Germany to find companies to invest in."
