SUNOTEC and Sungrow will implement a 2.4GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) throughout Europe.

SUNOTEC has entered into a contract with Sungrow to implement 2.4 gigawatt hours (GWh) of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across various solar projects in Europe.
This partnership underscores SUNOTEC's long-term focus on accelerating the integration of flexible and smart energy systems into its solar portfolio.
The 2.4 GWh storage capacity will enhance grid stability, improve renewable energy integration, and increase the reliability of SUNOTEC's solar parks in Bulgaria and wider Europe.
Sungrow will provide its PowerTitan 2.0 BESS solution, along with the SG350HX-20 string inverter and MVS for a hybrid project that combines photovoltaic (PV) and BESS.
Anastasios Gkinis, Sungrow's regional director for Central and Eastern Europe, Southeast Europe, and the CIS, remarked: “This partnership with SUNOTEC is pivotal to our goal of advancing clean energy development in Bulgaria and across Europe.
“By combining Sungrow’s advanced energy storage technology with SUNOTEC’s operational excellence, we are positioned to transform the energy landscape in Bulgaria and support the region's shift to a sustainable energy future.”
SUNOTEC's upcoming portfolio includes several large-scale projects nationwide, aiming to meet energy storage demands.
Some of these projects will receive support from Bulgaria’s RESTORE national funding program.
All will be flagship installations, representing some of the most significant and advanced energy storage systems in both the country and Europe to date.
Kaloyan Velichkov, founder and CEO of SUNOTEC, stated: “The global energy transition hinges not only on the amount of renewable energy generated but also on how intelligently we manage and store it.
“This collaboration with SUNGROW embodies our mutual goal to shape the next phase of clean energy by developing resilient, storage-enabled infrastructure that introduces stability, sustainability, and scalability to markets across Europe and beyond.”
In July 2025, SUNOTEC completed the acquisition of SIA DSE Lazas Solar’s solar and energy storage project in Latvia from Danish Sun Energy.
This acquisition will enable the creation of a new PV solar power plant with a capacity of 400 megawatts peak (MWp) and an additional 600 megawatt hours (MWh) of BESS.
