UK's Energean has made the final investment decision regarding a gas field in Croatia.

British gas producer Energean has finalized its decision to invest in the Irena gas field in the North Adriatic Sea off Croatia, the company announced on Wednesday.

The gas field is situated in the Izabela concession, an offshore development area operated by Edina, a 50-50 joint venture between Energean and Croatian oil and gas firm INA–Industrija Nafte.

Energean holds a 70% working interest in the concession, according to the statement.

Gas production at the Irena gas field is anticipated to begin in the first half of 2027, with peak production projected to reach about 1,400-1,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day, Energean noted.

The overall estimated capital expenditure for the project is 71 million euros ($81 million), with Energean's share amounting to 50 million euros.
