Ignitis has launched the initial 72.5-MW phase of its solar project in Latvia.

Lithuania’s Ignitis Renewables has launched the first phase of the Stelpe solar project in Bauska municipality, southern Latvia, which has a capacity of 72.5 MW. The €50 million (USD 58.2 million) Stelpe solar farm I covers 85 hectares and includes 121,000 solar panels. It will generate green electricity for the local grid under market conditions.
The entire Stelpe project consists of two separate sites and is one of three large-scale solar farms developed by Ignitis Renewables in Latvia. The other two are the 94-MW Varme solar farm, which began commercial operations earlier this week, and the 174-MW Tume solar farm project, which is currently being developed.
Ignitis Renewables is a green energy firm operating in the Baltics and Poland, aiming for 4-5 GW of installed green capacity by 2030.
