PGE is looking for a contractor for a 400 MW energy storage system in Poland.

PGE's renewable energy division has announced a tender for the design and construction of a 400 MW/800 MWh battery energy storage facility (BESS) at the Dolna Odra Power Plant in Nowe Czarnowo, near Gryfino.

The facility is expected to be operational by 2029, with applications due by September 16, 2025. This initiative is part of the group's strategy to enhance its storage capacity to 18.5 GWh by 2035, according to CEO Dariusz Marzec, who noted that PGE holds a 90% share of Poland's pumped-storage hydropower capacity.

Additionally, in March, PGE contracted to build Poland's largest BESS, the 981 MWh Żarnowiec plant, and both projects have secured 17-year capacity market contracts.
