Engie will provide e.optimum with 100 GWh of wind energy from Germany.

French energy company Engie SA and Germany's e.optimum have agreed to a power off-take contract that will enable the independent supplier to acquire 100 GWh of wind power domestically.

The power purchase agreement (PPA) is for electricity generated by German wind turbines that are no longer subsidized under the EEG feed-in tariff scheme, as stated by Engie Deutschland on Thursday. This contract will be in effect for the year 2026.

The arrangement will give e.optimum’s customers direct access to sustainable, locally sourced green energy, contributing to the energy transition, said e.optimum’s CEO, Boris Kaser.

Engie operates 16 wind farms in Germany and two additional plants for third parties, totaling an installed power generation capacity of approximately 250 MW, according to its website.
