Octopus invests in a trio of Spanish renewable energy projects totaling 600MW.

Octopus Energy has announced a 600MW increase in its renewable energy portfolio in Spain.

The new solar and battery storage projects will provide enough clean electricity to power over 2.3 million homes in Spain.

The investments from Octopus Energy Generation’s £2bn Sky fund include newly acquired solar farms in Navarre and Albacete, which produce a combined 100MW, and a battery storage developer aiming for 500MW of capacity in the next five years.

Octopus has also invested in OneSolar, an energy advisory firm in Barcelona that assists businesses in efficiently building and managing solar and battery projects.

Since entering Spain three years ago, Octopus has rapidly expanded its retail business, now serving over 350,000 customers, with a target of reaching one million by 2027.

Following the market disruption led by Octopus in the UK, Octopus Spain is maximizing the potential of the country’s abundant clean energy, including advanced battery storage and solar farms, while providing more affordable electricity for households and businesses.

Each project enhances the green power supply and delivers smarter, more sustainable energy solutions to communities in Spain, with notable progress already achieved.

These investments represent the latest additions to Octopus Energy Generation’s European portfolio, which currently manages over 4.9GW of clean energy projects worldwide.
