VPI and Noveria Energy will collaborate to install 700 MW of battery capacity in Germany.

VPI, a power company focused on the UK and Ireland and part of the Vitol energy trading group, is partnering with German project developer Noveria Energy to create a joint venture for deploying 700 MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Germany.

They plan to construct five projects with capacities between 60 MW and 300 MW in Baden-Württemberg and Brandenburg. The first project is expected to be operational in 2027, with the remaining projects set to be completed by the end of the decade.

VPI aims to develop, construct, operate, and trade these assets, increasing its total German pipeline to over 1 GW. About a year ago, it formed a similar partnership with Oslo-based Quantitas Energy.

Noveria Energy, supported by Bluestar, is a battery storage developer with a pipeline of 2 GW of projects in various German states.
