Palfinger's specialized nacelle cranes elevate Vestas' 15MW turbine operations.

Austrian manufacturer Palfinger Marine has begun supplying nacelle cranes for 15 MW offshore wind turbines being constructed by Danish company Vestas. As a primary supplier for Vestas, Palfinger Marine has provided service cranes for the V236-15MW model since late 2024, following collaborative development and extensive prototyping and testing. The specialized nacelle cranes were developed to meet specific customer needs, with serial production already underway. This partnership enhances Palfinger’s status as a specialist in the offshore sector, particularly in the expanding offshore wind industry. With the increasing demand for 15 MW turbines, Palfinger anticipates significant growth opportunities from their serial production. The cranes are sent to production facilities in Lindø (Denmark) and Stettin (Poland), where they are integrated into the turbines’ hydraulic and electrical systems, ultimately serving offshore wind farms globally. As essential components of the wind turbines, the cranes facilitate safe and efficient lifting and handling of loads from 200 meters below the turbines for maintenance tasks. Iavor Markov, Global Key Account & Segment Manager at Palfinger Marine, expressed pride in partnering with a leading offshore wind turbine manufacturer, highlighting the collaboration’s potential for product development and customization for turbine maintenance, providing long-term benefits to customers.
