Low wind production increases Monday spot prices.

The Monday spot price is anticipated to increase due to a significant drop in regional wind energy supply. Data from LSEG indicates that German baseload electricity contracts for Monday reached 145 euros per Megawatt-hour at 0912 GMT on Friday, a 51.8% rise from Thursday’s close. The corresponding French contract was not traded. LSEG analyst Riccardo Paraviero noted that the German residual load is expected to rise by 17.3 GW, slightly exceeding the rest of Europe due to decreased wind power.

German wind energy production is projected to fall by 16.9 gigawatts on Monday to 4.4 GW, while French wind power is expected to increase by 3.6 gigawatts to 6.9 GW. Additionally, the German solar energy supply is set to decrease by 590 Megawatts to 6.3 GW. Germany’s power consumption is forecasted to decline by 640 MW to 56 GW, while France is expected to see a reduction of 560 MW to 45 GW. An analyst from Engie's Energy Scan mentioned that temperatures for the following week will be adjusted higher and closer to normal, though they may gradually dip below the norm by the week's end, increasing heating degree days.

French nuclear capacity has decreased by two percentage points to 67%. The German power contract for the next year fell by 0.5% to 87.55 Euros/MWh, while the French baseload contract for 2026 was not traded, priced at 58.75 Euros/MWh. The benchmark contract on European carbon markets increased by 0.4% to 79.53 Euros per metric ton.
