Last turbine set up at the SSE Italy location.

SSE has finished installing turbines at its 17MW onshore wind farm in Puglia, southern Italy. Construction at the Castel Favorito and Masseria la Cattiva sites began six months ago, and all five Siemens Gamesa SG132-3.4MW turbines have been installed on schedule. SSE Renewables engineers led the effort in collaboration with turbine supplier Siemens Gamesa and main contractor Idoka Construzioni. Approximately 70 construction jobs supported peak delivery, benefiting the Puglia region’s supply chain.
With installation complete, commissioning and testing are now beginning ahead of full commercial operations in 2026. Gianluca Mercurio, SSE Renewables’ country manager for Italy, expressed satisfaction with the successful installation of all five turbines, highlighting it as a significant milestone for their first construction project in Italy. He looks forward to collaborating with their supply chain and contractor partners as they progress towards testing and commissioning before the target completion in 2026. The project is managed by Parco Eolico Tramontana S.R.L., a subsidiary of SSE Renewables’ parent company SSE plc.
