Voltalia begins operations at the 45MW Clifton solar plant.

Voltalia has initiated power generation at its 45MW Clifton solar plant in Dorset, south-west England.

Situated near Yeovil, the plant will generate enough renewable energy to cover the yearly needs of over 10,600 households, while preventing 11,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

Clifton obtained a 20-year Contract for Difference during the UK’s fourth allocation round, ensuring long-term revenue stability for the project.

Alongside the Higher Stockbridge site, which is currently being built, the project enhances Voltalia’s footprint in the UK, where it now runs four solar and storage facilities totaling 134MW.

An additional 79MW is under construction, and Voltalia has assisted third-party clients in developing and operating 23 more projects with a combined capacity of 195MW.

Voltalia stated that its efforts aid the UK’s carbon neutrality and energy security goals by providing competitively priced renewable energy despite market fluctuations.

“We are very proud to have commissioned the Clifton Solar Generating Station,” said Voltalia CEO Robert Klein. “This project demonstrates our commitment to the UK market and our contribution to the national objective of 95% low-carbon electricity production by 2030.”
