Elawan secures a 92MW wind energy project in Romania.

Elawan Energy has won two wind power projects in Romania's recent public auction, totaling 92MW of capacity, secured through a 15-year Contract for Difference (CfD) with the Romanian government.

This award ensures long-term revenue certainty and represents a significant step towards the construction of both projects, which are ready to build and expected to start operating in 2028.

According to Elawan, the wind farms will play a crucial role in Romania’s energy transition by providing clean, sustainable electricity to many homes and businesses, while also aiding European decarbonization goals.

“This achievement marks a strategic milestone for Elawan Energy, enhancing our presence in Eastern Europe and solidifying our contribution to the global energy transition,” stated Mauro Miranda, revenue management manager at Elawan Energy.

With this recent success, Elawan continues to broaden its international renewable energy portfolio and strengthen its role as a key player in the move towards a more sustainable energy model.

The company currently operates in 15 countries, managing a portfolio of 267 projects, which includes 2.1GW of installed capacity, 830MW under construction, and a development pipeline exceeding 11.7GW.

Based in Madrid, Elawan Energy develops, builds, and operates wind, solar, and hydroelectric projects, providing comprehensive clean energy solutions throughout Europe, the Americas, Turkey, and South Africa.
