India is reportedly reducing its imports of Russian oil by 50% following discussions with the US, according to a White House official.

The U.S. and India have engaged in successful trade discussions, with Indian refiners reportedly reducing Russian oil imports by 50%, according to a White House official speaking to Reuters on Thursday.

However, Indian sources indicated that this reduction is not yet evident, though it may show in the import figures for December or January. They noted that refiners had already placed orders for November, which included some shipments expected for December.

Additionally, the Indian government has not yet communicated any request for refiners to lower Russian oil imports. India's oil ministry and the refiners purchasing Russian oil did not respond immediately to requests for comment from Reuters.
