TotalEnergies has reached a renewable energy agreement with the data centre operator Data4.

French energy company TotalEnergies has signed a 10-year deal to provide renewable electricity to European data center operator Data4's locations in Spain, as announced on Tuesday.

Beginning in January 2026, the agreement will supply 610 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of clean electricity from upcoming Spanish wind and solar farms, according to the Paris-based firm.

"This agreement reinforces Data4's dedication to renewable energy, especially crucial during the ongoing AI race. We project a threefold increase in energy capacity needed for all data centers in Spain by 2030," stated Data4 CFO François Sterin.

TotalEnergies's growing investment in electricity enables a more stable income stream that is less affected by the fluctuations of the oil and gas industry, TotalEnergies CEO Patrick Pouyanne remarked on Monday at the annual International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) in Abu Dhabi.
