UK's Innova receives approval for a 400-MW BESS project following an appeal.

British renewable energy firm Innova has obtained a permit on appeal for its 400-MW Stenson Lane battery energy storage system (BESS) in South Derbyshire, England.
The Planning Inspectorate granted this approval, which was announced by the company on Friday, after the South Derbyshire District Council initially rejected the project due to concerns about agricultural land loss in the proposed area.
However, the Planning Inspectorate determined that the land loss was minimal, as the project site constitutes a very small percentage of the total agricultural land in South Derbyshire.
The Stenson Lane facility is set to be built on approximately 23 acres (9.3 hectares) near the village of Stenson and will primarily feature liquid-cooled battery units. Once operational, it will offer two hours of storage capacity sufficient to power 971,980 homes in South Derbyshire.
Electricity for the Stenson BESS will be both imported from and exported to the National Grid.
