New plan to speed up floating offshore wind energy in the Celtic Sea.

Celtic Sea Power has released a new report that provides a comprehensive strategy for speeding up the development of floating offshore wind in the Celtic Sea.

The document describes a regional master planning initiative conducted over several years to pinpoint the crucial steps needed for implementation.

It emphasizes the necessary actions by both government and industry to keep progress steady as the sector approaches commercial viability.

"This is a groundbreaking document," stated Steve Jermy, CEO of Celtic Sea Power.

"Effective regional master planning for offshore wind is vital for fostering collaboration between government and industry. Our planning process and this report have been created in close partnership with The Crown Estate, governmental bodies, and industry stakeholders to reflect a collective vision and an agreed pathway to success."

Two main priorities are central to the recommendations.

The first focuses on enhancing local port and offshore infrastructure to aid in manufacturing, assembly, and deployment.

For instance, the report suggests that the National Wealth Fund should emphasize FLOW supply chain infrastructure with potential for cross-sector applications, such as defense. It also advises that The Crown Estate explore financial tools, like option fee discounts, to encourage early investments.

The second priority involves broadening testing and demonstration prospects. The report recognizes five regional projects that could produce 432MW of energy before the next election, pending approval.

These smaller initiatives are viewed as vital steps toward full commercial rollout.

Importantly, the recommendations are organized within a structured framework that defines responsibilities and promotes collaboration.

The goal is to ensure that master planning leads to coordinated efforts among industry and government, facilitating regional economic development and job opportunities.
