GE Vernova signs deal for 42 wind turbines with Greenvolt.

GE Vernova has reached an agreement with Greenvolt Power to provide onshore wind turbines for the Gurbanesti wind farm located in Călărași county, Romania.

The contract includes the supply, installation, and commissioning of 42 turbines, each with a capacity of 6.1MW and a rotor diameter of 158m.

This is GE Vernova Romania's second significant onshore wind agreement within two months, following an announcement to provide another 42 turbines for the Ialomița wind farm.

Together, these two projects are expected to offer a combined capacity of around 500MW, aiding Romania's goal to significantly enhance its renewable energy by 2030.

They are projected to generate sufficient electricity annually to supply energy to over 110,000 homes in Romania.

The order for Gurbanesti was recorded in the fourth quarter of 2025, with the delivery of wind turbines slated to start in 2026.

According to the company, these wind farms will create hundreds of full-time jobs during peak construction phases.

GE Vernova manages a global fleet of about 57,000 turbines, contributing 120GW of installed capacity worldwide.

Gilan Sabatier, GE Vernova’s international markets chief commercial officer for onshore wind, stated: “We are glad to support Greenvolt once more as they strive to increase renewable energy in Romania and beyond.

“With our earlier announcement regarding another similarly sized Romanian wind farm, today's news highlights the benefits our reliable turbines can offer to customers in Romania and across Europe.”

The company noted that its portfolio includes advanced, high-capacity turbines designed for large-scale use, promoting decarbonization through the delivery of sustainable renewable energy.
