In 2025, Finland had the third lowest electricity prices in Europe, as reported by the energy company Helen.

This year, the average spot electricity price in Finland, including taxes, was approximately 5.1 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh), according to a press release issued by the company on Monday.

The only European nations with cheaper electricity prices were Sweden and Norway, which primarily rely on hydropower.

Finland experienced its highest electricity price in August 2025, with an average taxed rate of 6.9 cents per kWh.

The company explained that this surge was due to the annual maintenance of the Loviisa 2 nuclear reactor, a reduction in wind power production, and upkeep of the transmission connections between Finland and Sweden.
