Spain's Bruc is close to achieving 2 GW of operational solar power and is expanding into battery energy storage system hybrids.

Spanish renewable energy investor Bruc announced on Wednesday that it concluded 2025 with almost 2 GW of solar capacity operational and has started incorporating battery storage to enhance the flexibility and returns of its assets.
By the end of the year, the company had 1,963 MW of photovoltaic capacity across 38 plants in commercial operation, with an additional 637 MW of solar projects currently being developed, as stated by Bruc.
Bruc’s total asset portfolio is now at 6,588 MW, which includes projects that are operational, under construction, and still in development. Within the 3,988 MW under development, 2,200 MW are battery energy storage system (BESS) projects intended for hybridisation, 1,716 MW are solar projects, and 72 MW relate to wind energy to be integrated with the Las Quinientas solar farm.
The company anticipates installing its first battery systems before the end of 2026.
In 2025, Bruc's operational plants produced 3.42 TWh of electricity, sufficient to power approximately 900,000 households in Spain, while also preventing around 1 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
Bruc stated that financing for its portfolio is supported by agreements with both domestic and international lenders that adhere to green loan principles. It recently obtained a EUR 474 million (USD 553.3 million) non-recourse financing package to refinance debt associated with 858 MW of operational solar farms throughout Spain.
The company markets electricity either through the wholesale market or via long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with corporate clients.
