Aer Soléir has finalized financing for the Rondissone project, a 250MW battery energy storage system (BESS) with a four-hour capacity, situated in Piedmont, Italy.
The company's primary BESS initiative involves an investment of around €180 million.
This facility, located in the Italy Nord Power Zone, will be the largest BESS project currently being developed in Italy.
Funding is being provided by a consortium that includes Bayern LB, Nord/LB, Siemens Financial Services via Siemens Bank, CIBC, and ABN AMRO, arranged through Centrus, which served as debt and hedging advisor.
The senior debt facilities will finance up to 80% of the capital costs and will follow a 15-year repayment plan.
According to Aer Soléir, this is the first deal of its kind for a BESS asset in Italy.
Manus O’Donnell, co-founder and CFO of Aer Soléir, expressed satisfaction at achieving this financing milestone in partnership with their banking collaborators.
He stated that this leading project financing enhances Aer Soléir’s status as a premier renewable energy independent power producer (IPP), positioning the company well to expand its influence and aid Europe’s energy transition.
Rondissone is part of Aer Soléir’s strategy to invest €1.5 billion in Italy over the next five years across 17 projects related to wind, solar, and battery storage.
The company secured a 15-year capacity market contract with the Italian government in the first quarter of 2025 at a rate of €47,000/MW annually.
In the third quarter of 2025, Aer Soléir also established a seven-year fixed toll agreement for the BESS project with EGO Energy, a direct subsidiary of Shell Italia.
Under this agreement, EGO Energy will manage and trade the Rondissone project as part of its renewable energy offerings, providing Aer Soléir with fixed yearly payments.
Aer Soléir operates as an affiliate of 547 Energy, which is supported by Quantum Capital Group.
Quantum Capital Group, located in Houston, oversees over $32 billion in equity commitments worldwide.
Aer Soléir is dedicated to sustainable infrastructure initiatives across Europe, beginning with early-stage development.
